Kellie was searching for a groom’s gift for her husband-to-be—something extremely personal, but also something he would never imagine her doing.
The answer: boudoir.
She took five outfits to her shoot, including one that was an absolute no-ifs-ands-or-buts: “I was able to swipe under his nose the same button-down long-sleeve flannel shirt that he proposed to me in. I’m a country girl, so I added the cowboy hat and boots.”
Kellie’s mother and bridesmaids knew about the shoot; they even helped her pick out lingerie. But when it came to her fiancé, everything had to be top secret to make the surprise truly work.
He opened the Legacy Album on their wedding day, in front of his groomsmen.
“The guys told me later that as he was flipping through the book, he started backing himself into a corner so he could keep the photos to himself,” Kellie said. “He actually has that book sitting out on a nightstand on his side of the bed. It’s open to centerfold.”

What She Said
My style
Tomboy nurse. If I have a day off, I try to look nice, but most of my life I’m in scrubs.
Favorite outfit
The button-up flannel shirt because it was sentimental.
Biggest challenge
Poses. I actually have a bad back!
Proudest moment
Seeing that even though I’m wearing a lot of hair and makeup products in these photos, this woman resides in me—not just on the surface, but inside me.
Biggest piece of advice
Dive in. Do it. It’s a little scary, but Samantha and the girls make it super comfortable. Just remember, these are your pictures. It is you. This is a woman inside yourself.
