Brandy was 26 weeks pregnant when her husband was called to Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands to help restore energy after Hurricane Maria.
Although he missed 10 long weeks of her pregnancy, Brandy was cooking up a thoughtful surprise for her husband’s return: a sexy-but-modest maternity album that would document her body, mind, and emotional state at 28 weeks pregnant.
She gave her husband the album just four weeks before their daughter was born. And while his response was emotional, Brandy says she didn’t realize how much the experience moved her, too.
Looking back, I’m so glad I have those photos to document where I was and how I was feeling in that sliver of time before the baby came,” Brandy says. “The beauty of what your body does—to have pictures of that is just an excellent boost.

My style:
Simple. Jeans and a T-shirt and usually a pair of Chucks.
Favorite outfit:
The purple sweater. I liked the way it laid on my body. It showed my chest just enough to be sexy, and it just barely hugged my stomach.
Biggest challenge:
How to hold my face to look sexy without looking awkward. Samantha always tells me to relax my mouth, show some teeth, close your eyes, look down, then up. I’m always smiling so it’s odd trying to be serious and sexy. Another huge challenge is narrowing down which photos to buy. If I could, I would purchase every single one.
Proudest moment:
That I even did it in the first place. I’m not always good at making time for myself. Life just gets in the way.
Biggest piece of advice:
Don’t sit and think about it and question it. If it’s something you’ve even considered doing—do it.
